Black and white developing workshop

Develop your own film

You shoot a roll of black and white film and then develop it yourself, with us by your side. In our shop or on location with your group.

How it worksBook now

How it works

From an empty roll to your own photos

1. You buy the camera

Our own brand camera, loaded with a roll of black and white film with 27 shots. That's all you need.

2. You shoot your roll

At a party, on holiday or just on your own street. Take your time. Once your roll is full, you book a spot at a workshop in the shop.

3. You develop it yourself

In two to three hours, you go through the whole process. You mix the chemicals, load your film onto the reel in the dark and develop it.

4. You see your negatives

You take the film out of the tank and see your images for the first time. Only then do you know if it worked and whether there's anything on your roll at all. That stays exciting, for us too.

Timing

You decide how long it takes

Between buying your camera and the workshop, there are 27 shots. Some people use them up at a wedding. Others take the camera with them for a whole summer. Both are fine.

There's no need to rush. The more the photos mean to you, the more fun it is to develop them yourself.

We schedule regular workshop sessions in the shop. Once your roll is full, you pick a session that suits you.

Good to know

  • The workshop takes two to three hours. Exactly how long depends on the size of the group and how quickly you get the hang of steps like rinsing.
  • A maximum of 10 people take part, so we can help everyone personally.
  • There are two of us, so there's always someone by your side.
  • All you bring is your camera with the full roll.

Price

€110

per person, including camera

That's the camera (€30) plus your workshop ticket (€80). Already have our camera? Then you only book the ticket.

Sharing one camera? Then the second person pays €55. You share the camera, the scans and the prints. Two people per camera at most.

Buy the camera

  • Camera with a black and white roll. Our own brand camera, loaded with black and white film for 27 shots.
  • The workshop. Two to three hours in the shop. There are two of us, and we take all the time you need.
  • Chemicals and materials. Everything you use during the workshop.
  • All your photos scanned and printed. We scan your whole roll and print every photo at 10 × 15 cm. You'll have them a few days after the workshop. With a regular developing order, you pay separately for scanning and for each print. Here, it's all included. You can order other sizes separately afterwards.
  • Online lessons. Once they're online, this workshop unlocks the lessons that go with it. That way you can go over the steps again at home.

Groups

With your group on location

With friends, your team or your student society. Or just in your own student house. The two of us come over and bring everything you need to develop your rolls together.

On location, we run the workshop for groups of 4 to 10 people, at €130 per person including camera. The extra €20 compared to the shop covers our travel time and setting up. Everyone gets a camera in advance, so you can shoot your rolls first. Request the workshop through the form below and we'll get in touch.

15% off for the first five groups

We're still refining the on-location workshop. That's why the first five groups get 15% off, in return for a short round of feedback afterwards. You then pay €110.50 per person.

What we need on location

  • A table for everyone. Everyone needs a seat at a table, with a few spots left over for our equipment.
  • A sink with a tap. We use it for things like rinsing the film.
  • Fresh air. Make sure the room is well ventilated. As long as there's fresh air, you can work with our chemicals just fine. A window that opens is usually enough.
  • A screen or projector. With an HDMI connection, for our presentation. Don't have one? Let us know and we'll sort something else out.
